Love is Everything

Love is not something that you say, it is something that you do.

LOVE is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible-

it cannot be seen or measured ;

yet is powerful enough to

TRANSFORM YOU IN A MOMENT,

and offer you more joy than any material possession ever could.

Barbara de Angelis PH. D

There are too many different ways to define LOVE. But only few have a deep understanding of its real meaning. Some says…

It’s a food,
for the rich and the poor.
The guiding star,
towards heavens’ tour.
Wings,
that makes all creatures fly.
A gift,
in store, you cannot buy…
A cure,
for the sickness
of mankind.
Bible says:
LOVE is patient and kind.
A solvent,
that weakens the Iron Man.
A celebrity,
Oh! I’m a die-hard fan!
A song,
that even bird’s could sing.
A link,
that connects all strings.
A book,
that a blind could read.
The word behind
the ‘DISCIPLE’S CREED’.
A bridge,
that leads to different lands.
A fire,
that warmth's a frozen hand.
A dove,
above those wedding bell’s-
It’s All the things,
that I could tell!

If I Had My Child to Raise Again

If I had my child to raise again,
I’d build self-esteem first,
I’d finger paint more,
And point the finger less.
I would do less correcting,
And more connecting.
I’d take my eyes off my watch,
And watch with my eyes.
I would care to know less
And care to know more.
I’d take more hikes
And fly more kites.
I’d stop playing serious,
And seriously play.
I would run through more fields
And gaze at more stars.
I’d do more hugging
And less tagging.
I’d see the Oak tree
In the acorn more often,
And affirm much more.
I’d model less about the love of power,
And more about the power of love.

Like a Little Candle

Like a little candle
On a deafening, silent night
When darkness fills all corners
My light will make it bright.
A light I cannot keep,
to brighten up my own-
No matter how much I give,
I would shine but feels alone.
And on a stormy weather,
When winds are raging, blowing cold-
I am here to keep you warm,
just come closer to me, behold.
Such warmth I wish to feel,
to tame my troubled heart.
Burning love to end my fears,
like the heat of sun when rain departs.
On times of your despair,
When loved-ones left or gone-
I am here to mourn with you,
I’ll be up until you’re done.
Those tears, I longed to cry,
To let go these pains I keep.
Im tired to say I’m strong,
When inside I sob and weep.
But like a little candle,
I’ll keep shinin’ for your sake.
I won’t make noise about my sorrow-
It’s the fate I have to take.
So embrace the light I give-
For it is my strength and life I spend,
And as these sorrow fades and through-
The candle’s life will end.

HUMAN PAINS IN A LOVELESS

All of us to some extent are enduring agonies of loneliness, frustration, emotional and spiritual starvation. Somehow these pains are radically due to failures in love. The essential sadness of such pain is that it magnetizes the focus of our attention; it preoccupies us with ourselves. And self-preoccupation is an absolute obstacle to a life of love.

I once asked a Psychiatrist friend of mine, “How can you teach people to love?” His answer was mildly surprising o say the least. He answered the question by asking one of his own:” Did you ever have a toothache?” Of whom were you thinking during the distress of your toothache?” His point was clear. When we are in pain, even if it’s only a passing discomfort of an aching tooth, we are thinking about ourselves.

The Psychiatrist continued,” This is a pain-filled world in which we are living. And the pains that reside deep in the human hearts around us are not like a toothache. We go with them at night and we wake up with them in the morning. Two-thirds of all the hospital beds in this country are now occupied by mental patients. One out of ten Americans has already been treated for mental illness. The pain inside of them became too deep and required professional attention.

“This is a pain-filled world, and so, a loveless world that we live in. Most human beings are so turned-in by their own pains that they cannot get enough of themselves to love to any great extent.”

A FRIEND

A FRIEND…,
is someone who KNOWS you DEEPLY.
…who gets thru’ the REAL PERSON inside of you
and helps you let it out.
Someone who Talks with you FREELY about the REALMS of LIFE..,
even with ACHES and PAINS included.
Someone who UNDERSTANDS.
Someone who LISTENS-
…to what YOU are SAYING.
…to what YOU are TRYING to SAY, and CANNOT say..,
with or WITHOUT WORDS spoken.
Someone who DOES NOT COUNT
what was DONE for YOU..,
Rather, keep HOLDING your HANDS
till TROUBLES are THROUGH.
Someone who SHARES your LAUGHTER’S
and takes you OUT of the BLUE.
…does not Envy.
Instead, cheers and CELEBRATES
on SPECIAL Days of YOU.
Someone who CORRECTS you,
when you’re WRONG.
And PRAISES
when you’re RIGHT.
Someone who stills GIVES
though Days are ROUGH and TIGHT….
rushes to RESCUE you
prior ”BUT’S” and “WHY’S?”
…weaves a DREAM WITH YOU,
Under neath the STARS in SKIES
…CHOOSES YOU over Pride.
Someone who COMFORTS-
your SHELTER,
and GUIDE.
…SAILS with you
throughout the JOURNEYS
of your LIFE.
…reaches out despite DISTANCE.

…FORGIVES sincerely with wide OPEN ARMS.
Someone who BELIEVES,
